We realize we have not updated this blog in a log time! This past year has been very busy for us!! We will give you a quick run down on some of the things we have been up to!
We have ran a successful volleyball tournament last summer where all our proceeds went to Youth Boost a new charity forming in Barrie! We are in the process of planning our next one which will take place JULY 11th in Barrie (stay tuned for more details)! We have assisted our local Rotary clubs with events such as Taste the World, Lobster Fest, two charity gala’s and more!! Back in the fall we volunteered at rainy day BBQ for Hospice Simcoe and this past weekend our club worked with Hospice once again to plan the annual HIKE FOR HOSPICE. It was a huge success. We saw over 500 participants…it was WONDERFUL to see people (and pets) of all ages out to support this amazing cause! Recently we also participated in a “Day of Giving”. Our members dispersed around the city and volunteered at places like Youth Haven (local youth shelter), Hospice, helped a local family move and more. We also have taken part in a blood drive challenge with our local Rotary clubs… Looks like we are stuck washing their cars…AGAIN! Our young blood is just not good enough!
Aside from all the events we run we also like to better our development. Last summer three of our members attended an International Rotaract Conference in Toronto and Montreal! We also represented Rotaract at our District Conference in Val d’Or, Quebec. Four of our members were able to make the trek in September with a friend from Collingwood Rotaract. We were the only Rotaract members in attendance. We had the honour of speaking to the district about Rotaract and what we do here in the city of Barrie!
I could go on and on about all the events we have participated in this past year! But why don’t you check them out for yourself? Check out our social media pages for pictures and information about all our exciting past and upcoming events!
